Of course not!įarming: Safe, can be done underground, crops need time to grow and sometimes grow in specific seasons, some crops need specific workshops Note: There is a completely different above ground/below ground crop system You can make mud by covering a tile with water either through a pump or by digging down and attaching a lever to a floodgate to flood a room (include a method of draining the water) Other agricultural foods may need some other prep, quarry bushes, rock nuts, ect will need other workshops to grind them up into flour or something. In fact, if you cook plump helmets you don't get a seed back, you do from brewing or eating raw so make sure you have a nice reserve of seeds before you start making lavish meals. So how should you get food? Plump helmets are the standard agricultural method, capable of growing in any season and require 0 prep to eat. Note: Dwarf fortress does not have food poisoning, nutrient paste = uncooked food Endgame 100 dwarves will be more than satisfied with like 5 or 6 farmers and a single 10x10 plot. There are many ways of gathering food for your fortress and unlike rimworld gathering food will not require a huge portion of your population.
